One person was dead and another was injured in the shooting on the 100 block of River Street in Red Bank on Wednesday, July 10, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said in a Facebook post.
The office's major crimes bureau is helping the Red Bank Police Department investigate. There was an "increased police presence" in the area due to the investigation, the borough said in a Facebook post at 8:18 a.m.
Red Bank police said a suspect wasn't in custody but they don't believe there's a "continued threat to the public." The borough and county prosecutor's office asked people to avoid the area as investigators remained at the scene.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at 800-533-7443 or Red Bank police at 732-530-2700.
